Hello. I’m Marla.

I’m a writer, musician and creativity coach.

Since early childhood, I’ve made songs, written pages and watched myself watching the world. Along the way, I studied classical flute in college, fine-art photography at the Corcoran School of Art’s Open Program, and poetry, literary theory and applied linguistics while earning my MFA in creative writing. I studied closely with poet Carolyn Forché in grad school.

I observed and chronicled my mothering years closely, filling journals along the way. As my daughter’s gotten older, I’ve grown as a singer-songwriter, and for the past few years I’ve been playing out and performing—something I love.

For more than twenty years, I’ve also been helping thoughtful, accomplished people make more time, space and structure for the creative work—and parts of themselves—that truly matter.
